At a glance

Canada is the value option among the big English-speaking destinations, and the only one where the study-to-work-to-residence path is a published, points-based sequence rather than a hope. Three intakes a year also mean you are rarely more than four months from a start date.

02

Who it suits

Students who want to work abroad after graduating and are willing to plan for it from the start. Also students who need a start date sooner than next September.

03

What it costs

Tuition runs ₹12–24 lakh a year, with colleges at the lower end and research universities at the upper. Living costs are ₹8–12 lakh depending on the province. You will also need to show a Guaranteed Investment Certificate for the first year of living expenses.

04

What we watch for in your file

  • Programme eligibility for the post-graduation work permit. Not every college programme qualifies, and the rules have tightened. We check this before you apply, not after.
  • Proof of funds through a GIC plus tuition payment, prepared in the right order.
  • Provincial attestation letters, which are now part of most study permit applications.
05

Deadlines to plan around

September intake applications should be filed by January or February. May and January intakes have shorter runways but a narrower course list.
